Ryan's Book Blog

About This Blog 👤

Hello all.

This is my personal reading journal. It is a record of every book I've consumed across audiobooks, print, and e-books since I started tracking in September of 2018. I write a quick review and keep this record as a way to better remember and reflect on what I've read. While my written review is kept in an app I wrote, the blunt star ratings are here for your enjoyment.

These star ratings are purely my personal opinion. 5 stars means it genuinely changed something for me or I couldn't put it down. 1 star means I probably should have stopped halfway through but didn't. I don't believe in the Did Not Finish (DNR). I always secretly hope the book will redeem itself at the end. However, sometimes, it just never does. Some books are just terrible. Some earned their 1 star because the book a good idea and terribly written. Some earned their 1 star by being wonderfully written but a terrible concept or a truly toxic idea.

I read just about anything: non-fiction, history, biography, business, science fiction, thrillers, and whatever else catches my eye. When I finish a book I try to leave a few honest thoughts while they're still fresh. Some reviews are short, some go long. None are paid or sponsored.
